This violin was built by Ernst Schetelig (* 1864) from Markneukirchen. He was a student of Adolf Paulus (Bausch's successor) and started his own business in 1890.

The instrument shown here is from 1925 and stands out for its dark, fiery red varnish. It has a moderately flamed onepiece back. The spruce top shows relatively wide, irregular annual rings.
