Albert Lorenz was born in Markneukirchen in 1887 and founded the Hell workshop for historical instruments together with Rudolf Eras in 1934. He also traded in all kinds of musical instruments and accessories, including timpani, prongs and recorders. The company enjoyed a good reputation and satisfied all clients in the best manner.

This instrument bears the original label as well as the branding stamp AL of the builder. Edge inserts drawn out very far and the wonderfully flamed maple back testify to great care and good material selection. The yellow-brown lacquer gives the instrument its very special charm.
