(Paul) Erich Heberlein , born in 1899, was the son and student of August Ludwig Heberlein (1859-1919). 
Employed by Max Möller, Amsterdam and Georg Rauer, Vienna - that is why the Markneukirchen called him "the Viennese". His violin labels also contain this addition. After his journeyman's examination, he returned to Markneukirchen and worked independently. He died early at only 33 years of age, so instruments built by him are correspondingly rare. 
 
At least the original label says that this instrument is a replica of a violin by Carlo Tonnoni from Bologna from 1740. Probably the builder himself noticed that he had not quite achieved his goal and has his own handwritten label added. Accordingly, the instrument was manufactured in 1929. Nevertheless, a very beautiful example of this talented master with a divided, deeply flamed maple back and the very well preserved, amber-colored varnish. The sound of the instrument is rather bright but still full and harmonious in all positions.
