This is the old lady in this collection. A beautiful violin by Johann Gottfried Hamm. Born in Markneukirchen in 1744, he became a master at the age of 20. He worked with the utmost care and probably had Stainer's broad model in mind for many instruments. The inlays were usually more decorative than most of the Neukirchen masters of his time.

The instrument is now set up again and surprise, under the matt surface we have actually found the dark brown lacquer on the beautifully flamed maple back, which now shines in full beauty. And after a professional has taken care of the sound post, bridge and fingerboard, the sound shines again at the highest level.
