Violin by Karl Adolf Pfretzschner from 1875. He was born in Markneukirchen in 1849 as one of three sons of Carl Gottlob Pfretzschner. He probably learned the craft from his father, but he did not become a master. The instrument was in a desolate state when it came to me and is a good example of how simple violins were made during that time. No upper block, the neck is simply glued to the floor and to the sides. No (above) or only faked corner blocks (below) and very simple elaboration of the floor and the ceiling as well as the edge inlays. At least now it resembles a violin, but unfortunately it will never sound again.
